Ok!  Finally, I’ve plucked up the courage to offer some Sewing Sessions at The Upholstery Bureau!   We all want to improve our sewing skills and I have some that I am happy to pass on.

The plan is, you bring a project that you would like to learn how to do, such as a new sofa cushion cover, a window seat cushion cover or a throw cushion.  We will not be doing curtains or clothing, however, practising sewing will give you experience and confidence to try sewing more things.

If you feel your sewing machine skills are a bit rusty, I can help you to get back up and running through a few sewing exercises.

I can be flexible – to a degree – with what individuals work on and how they wish to work, so please email me so you can let me know your project and the fabric you hope to use.   You can use your time to practise how to put in a zipper, to make and join piping for a cushion and I’ll share tips and tricks that I have learned over my time sewing.  Or, you could also choose to bring in one sofa cushion or a window seat cushion and I will guide you through the steps to make a new one.

Everyone will have different levels of skill and will sew at their own space.   There will be lots of 1:1 instruction as well as group learning and at times, you may have to share sewing machines depending on what people are doing.

**Please note that making a full size, piped and zipped box cushion can take a newbie 12-15 hours so I cannot guarantee that you will finish your project over this 2 day course.  If you require more time, you can also enrol for one or two evening sessions.

Tuesday 23rd July  –   9:30am til 3:30pm

Tuesday 30th July –  9:30am til 3:30pm

If you wish to bring your own machine, that is possible too. But please check with the tutor to make sure.  Please ensure you bring a zipper and a single and/or double piping foot for your machine.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided and there is one 30-40 minute break for lunch.
