Description

Come and join us for an afternoon of upholstery.  The class starts at 1:30pm until 4pm.  You bring your own project and if you are a newcomer, you should start with something small – a dining chair, a small nursing chair, a footstool, piano stool or drop in seats while you pick up some basics and orientate yourself with materials and tools in the workshop.  If you feel adventurous you can start with a two pad item like a nursing chair but sorry, no armchairs if you are a newcomer.  You’ll have lots of 1:1 instruction, demonstration and guidance as well as group learning where you will see other types of work being carried out.   The course is designed to give you some upholstery skills while you work on your project and to enhance your appreciation of this huge and amazing craft.

You’ll be exposed to a range of projects and skill levels so if you are a beginner, this will give you a little insight into what you might take on next.

*Please note, fees include storage of all beginner type projects but there is an additional storage fee to cover the cost of storing larger projects.  Armchairs (including some nursing chairs) will be charged £65 per term and large chairs (depth and width are over 73cm) £120 per term.  This fee is paid at your first session, by card.*  If you are unsure if you will be charged a storage fee, please do ask the tutor.

Everyone must send a photo of their project prior to the course.  If you need any guidance, please do get in touch via email to saramac@upholsterybureau.com

Please do check out the FAQs page on the website for answers to frequently asked questions.
